The Development Planning Courses are modular and any of the groups may be studied on its own as a standalone entity or taken together as a six 6 months course of study. If taken separately, successful participants will be issued a Certificate of Achievement relevant to the Course Group studied. If all the groups are taken within the 6 months time frame , participants will be awarded a Diploma in Land-use Planning for Sustainable Development. OCDT offers both On-site and specially requested Off-shore training in Small Islands and Developing Low-lying Coastal States in Developing Countries. On completion of the training participants will be awarded a the Applied Professional Diploma in Integrated Community Development Planning.

This certificate is designed for adult learners from all walks of life and educational backgrounds. To qualify for admission into this program, you must be:

• a mature student (over 21 and out of school for at least 2 years with no significant post-secondary education); OR

• have successfully attended at least a year of college or university; OR

• otherwise be eligible for admission to the University

There are no required courses or required sequence of courses. For practicum experience, PLAN 548B is recommended. CDSP students should discuss with their advisor which courses best suit their particular interests.

Career paths of CDSP students include positions as:

• social planners with municipalities in Canada,

• as social policy analysts, gender planners or equity advisors with regional and provincial governments, and
